OAKLAND — Alice Shikina used to be a play director.
She was also an English teacher in Czechoslovakia, a graphic designer and an admissions officer.
“I feel [mediation’s] so creative,” she said. “It’s not creative in an artistic sense, but it requires a ton of problem solving and thinking outside the box, which is what I tried to emphasize in my careers.”
