A pivotal moment in James F. Pokorny’s career occurred in the early 1980s, when a woman told the fledgling attorney about an ordeal that resulted in the death of her husband.
The couple had been on vacation in Mexico when the man slipped and fell, causing an injury that led to a severe infection. As his condition deteriorated, she hired an air evacuation service in San Diego to airlift him home.
