Diversity efforts recognized by LA nonprofit
Los Angeles-based For People of Color Inc. hosted its 3rd annual A Night Out with FPOC event on July 6 at Mas Malo Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Founded in 2000, the organization provides law school admissions consulting services to thousands of prospective law school applicants. This year the organization awarded Patricia Lee, special assistant for diversity and bar relations for the State Bar of California, with FPOC’s Community Service Award for her efforts in helping diversify the legal profession. Sonia Gonzales, executive director of the California Bar Foundation, was keynote speaker. Second-year Harvard Law student Hector Ramos gave thanks to the organization for helping him achieve his dream of becoming a lawyer despite many hurdles in his family life.
