Public Law Center honors volunteers
Orange County's Public Law Center held its Volunteers for Justice Dinner on June 18. More than 815 guests heard keynote remarks by Associate Justice Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court, who quoted from a sermon of Martin Luther King Jr. on the Good Samaritan to challenge the audience to become better people in the service of others, particularly when it is not easy. Public Law Center gave its Attorney of the Year award to Latham & Watkins LLP associate Mayte Santacruz Benavidez. The Orange County Bar Association and the OCBA Charitable Fund for Community were honored as Partner of the Year and Snell & Wilmer LLP as Law Firm of the Year. The event brought in $660,000 to help Orange County's underrepresented. -Don DeBenedictis
