The Orange County Bar Foundation honored 21 exceptional college-bound students during its Higher Education Mentoring program graduation on May 31 at the Rancho Santiago Community College District Center in Santa Ana. Alejandra Garcia-Williams, Mexican consul in Orange County, delivered the keynote speech. Martha Madrid, associate director of the Orange County Bar Foundation, says many of the graduates are the first in their families to go to college and had to juggle work, community service and other extracurricular activities on top of completing school and their HEM hours. More than $40,000 in scholarship money was handed out at the event.
