Leadership nonprofit Coro Southern California recognized the civic contributions of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP partner George D. Kieffer last month at its annual Crystal Eagle awards gala. Kieffer, who chairs Manatt’s government and regulatory policy division, has been a fixture in Los Angeles public life. He’s served on the Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission, headed the city’s economic task force in the wake of the 9/11 attacks and chaired the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the Board of Regents at the University of California. He urged emerging leaders to live boldly and take risks. “Go for it. Always go for it,” Kieffer told the crowd. “I’ve never regretted making an effort at something.” Coro also presented Crystal Eagle awards to broadcaster and philanthropist Larry King, insurance executive and sports agent Dennis J. Gilbert and Anschutz Entertainment Group, Inc. Vice President of Community Affairs Martha Saucedo. -Ben Adlin
