On May 10, the Southern California chapter of the Legal Marketing Association hosted its in-house panel presentation, “New Technology and the Legal Industry: The View From Inside.” The event was hosted at the Wyndham Hotel in Costa Mesa and featured the following panelists: Cary Berger, general counsel, eHarmony.com; John Page, general counsel, Golden State Foods; Cheryl Tobin, assistant vice president and insurance counsel, Pacific Life Insurance; and Jason Weintraub, director of international legal affairs at Broadcom Corp. The panel was moderated by Nat Slavin, founding partner of Wicker Park Group, a consulting firm that implements client feedback programs to facilitate dialogue between in-house counsel and outside counsel. Topics included the impact of technology on in-house attorneys’ purchasing of outside legal services and what clients value in a relationship with outside counsel. - David McAfee
