State Bar withdraws nomination of top prosecutor

The agency is no longer seeking state Senate confirmation for Chief Trial Counsel Steven Moawad

For the second time in three years, the State Bar was unable to secure state Senate confirmation for its top prosecutor to remain in the role longterm.

The agency announced Friday that it was withdrawing Chief Trial Counsel Steven Moawad's nomination before the Senate Rules Committee, a move that comes as Moawad remains a defendant in a federal lawsuit alleging he harassed a Muslim colleague at his last job.
