SAN FRANCISCO -- An expert witness, called by the plaintiff's attorneys, testified Thursday about the carcinogenicity of Monsanto Co.'s weedkillers in a bellwether trial.
Defense attorneys, in turn, pointed to perceived inconsistencies in the witness' testimony to what he said in a previously recorded deposition to dispute the validity of the science indicating the company's glyphosate-based herbicides cause cancer.
