After an 18-year career in the Orange County public defender’s office and 17 years on the bench, Superior Court Commissioner Ronald Klar is retiring Thursday

Elected a commissioner by judges in 2001, the collaborative and drug court commissioner said after hearing more than 300 jury trials, 1,200 preliminary hearings, and thousands of motions, he’s reached his peak, and his gut has told him it is time to retire.
