In a trial that begins this week, the U.S. attorney’s office is seeking forfeiture of a motorcycle gang’s trademarked logos.

SANTA ANA -- A criminal racketeering trial scheduled to begin this week against the Mongol Nation motorcycle gang is based on what a judge described Monday as a "novel" concept: Federal prosecutors want to seize the gang's trademarked patch in a forfeiture attempt rife with First Amendment issues.

Twenty jurors are to be selected from a pool of 75 starting today before U.S. District Judge
