Dispute over origin of Jelly Belly Candy moves to California

The long-running dispute between the sides has enough strange details to fill up movie comedy: drug-laced candies, an incendiary documentary, and a contest based on Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

A man who claims he founded the Jelly Belly Candy Company moved to drop his New York lawsuit against the company on Friday — the same day the Fairfield-based jelly bean maker sued him in federal court in California.

The long-running dispute between the sides has enough strange details to fill up movie comedy: drug-laced candies, an incendiary documentary, and a contest based on Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
