Witness in Uber security chief trial defends use of ‘bug bounties’
Collin Greene was called as the first witness for the defense in the prosecution of Joseph Sullivan, a former chief of security at Uber who is accused of covering up a 2016 breach.
A former security engineering manager at Uber Technologies Inc. testified Wednesday that fending off data system breaches at any company is especially difficult, and he defended “bug bounty” programs in which companies pay hackers to disclose vulnerabilities they find.
