Meta faces string of class actions over data privacy
A statement from Meta denied the allegations and said, “We have carefully designed our in-app browser to respect users’ privacy choices, including how data may be used for ads.”
Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta Platforms Inc. is facing a string of class actions over data privacy claims. This month, in a span of two weeks, four complaints were filed in the Northern District Court of California alone, in which plaintiffs accuse Meta of tracking user activity without their knowledge or consent, violating the Wiretap Act and Invasion of Privacy Act.
