Retired Justice Coleman A. Blease, a liberal stalwart on the 3rd District Court of Appeal and one of the longest serving justices in California history, died Nov. 28. He was 93.
Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Blease to the Sacramento-based Court of Appeal in 1979. Blease retired in June after 43 years. In his retirement letter, Blease wrote that he had an extraordinarily lucky life.
