San Joaquin County judge agrees to public censure
After forming the nonprofit, Judge Richard A. Vlavianos served as its board chair and chief executive officer and “improperly used the prestige of his judicial office to promote” it.
San Joaquin County Judge Richard A. Vlavianos has stipulated to a public censure for several acts of misconduct in connection with the promotion of a nonprofit that he formed and his treatment of attorneys and defendants, the Commission on Judicial Performance announced Wednesday.
“A public censure is the strongest sanction that the commission may impose on a judge short of removal from the bench,” the announcement stated.
