Manning & Marder Partner Will Serve on Oversight Committee
The Orange County Transportation Authority appointed Lawrence Esten, managing partner of the Irvine office of Manning & Marder, Kass, Ellrod, Ramirez, to a three-year term on the Orange County Third Supervisorial District's Measure M Citizens Oversight Committee.
Esten was recommended by the Grand Jurors Association of Orange County selection panel, then selected at the Orange County Transportation Authority meeting on June 24.
Measure M is a half-cent sales tax increase approved by Orange County voters in November 1990 to fund transportation improvements throughout the county. The measure is expected to raise $3.1 billion over 20 years.
Plans call for Measure M revenue to create a balanced multimodal transportation system to provide short-term relief on existing freeways, streets and roads and eventually to develop a state-of-the-art rail transit system.
The nine-member, voter-approved Citizens Oversight Committee approves amendments to the plan, reviews the growth management plans for each jurisdiction and annually conducts a public hearing to determine whether Measure M is being implemented as approved by voters.
