$42 MILLION MAKES SWEET MUSIC FOR PORTALPLAYER
PortalPlayer Inc. closed its fourth round of funding, bringing in $42 million for the Santa Clara company. The deal was announced June 11. J.P. Morgan Partners, Investcorp International and Shamrock Capital Advisors led the round. CIBC World Markets, Linear Technology Corp., SLI Logic Corp., Band of Angels Fund, Thomas Spiegel and Portal Partners also participated.

PortalPlayer produces and sells a wide variety of audio equipment, including portable digital music players, general audio systems and streaming receivers.
Palo Alto's Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich represented PortalPlayer. Partner Mark Radcliffe led the deal team. Of-counsel Peter Astiz assisted with associates Vanessa Mandel, John Fogg, Beth O'Callahan, Tim Naylor and Erica Crago.
