S.F. COMPANY CONNECTS TO ATLANTA'S EARTHLINK

EarthLink Inc. has agreed to acquire PeoplePC Inc. The deal is worth $10 million and was announced June 10. Atlanta-based EarthLink is an Internet service provider that offers broadband, digital, cable and wireless Internet services.

        San Francisco's PeoplePC rents personal computers to customers for $25 a month in a four-year contract. The customers receive a name brand computer, such as Hewlett-Packard, Internet service and discounts to other businesses such as E*Trade Group Inc. and Buy.com Inc.

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati represented PeoplePC. The team consisted of partners Mark Bertelsen of Palo Alto and Steve Camahort of San Francisco. Associates Elise Brinck, Valerie Ho and Samuel Wu assisted from Palo Alto. Associates Lora Blum and Victoria Deitcher pitched in from San Francisco.
