Heller Ehrman: L.A. PARTNER CONTRIBUTES HIS ACCOUNTING EXPERTISE

Bolstering its offering to Big 5 accounting firm clients PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Deloitte & Touche and KPMG, the Los Angeles office of Heller Ehrman White & McAulliffe has recruited partner Michael L. Cypers.

Bolstering its offering to Big 5 accounting firm clients PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Deloitte & Touche and KPMG, the Los Angeles office of Heller Ehrman White & McAulliffe has recruited partner Michael L. Cypers.
Cypers, who specializes in accountant's liability, securities and class litigation, joined the San Francisco-based firm May 29.
"In the post-Enron world, issues relating to financial reporting and auditing are receiving increasing scrutiny, and accounting firms and financial institutions need the kind of experienced and qualified counsel that a top-tier firm like Heller Ehrman can provide," Cypers says.
Cypers, 45, had spent 22 years at Century City's
Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan before moving to Heller Ehrman, which has 590 attorneys and 13 national offices. Alschuler Grossman has 90 attorneys in its sole West Los Angeles office.
Alschuler Grossman, a business and entertainment litigation firm, represents accounting firms such as Arthur Andersen, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte & Touche and Grant Thorton.
Cypers, who did not take any accounting firm clients with him to Heller Ehrman, says that his split from Alschuler Grossman was "very amicable" and that he will continue to team with his former colleagues on important matters.
Marshall Grossman of Alschuler Grossman agrees that Cyper's departure was on good terms and that Cypers may continue to assist on firm cases where he was "actively involved."
"He's a joining a fine firm, and we obviously wish him all continued success," Grossman says.
