Hitachi has acquired an 80 percent stake in AccSys Technology Inc. The deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, was announced May 29.
Hitachi will use this acquisition to bolster its proton beam therapy system, which is a cancer treatment.
Tokyo's Hitachi produces and sells electronic components and industrial equipment, such as elevators, escalators, refrigerators, semiconductors, and audio and video equipment. It has offices in Asia, Europe and North America.
Pleasanton's AccSys Technology is a design and manufacturing company that specializes in ion linear accelerator systems. Its products include Pulsar Systems, which are used in medical imaging.
Cleveland's Squire Sanders represented Hitachi. Partner Catharina Min led the deal team from San Francisco. Partner Nicholas Unkovic assisted from Palo Alto.
Palo Alto-based Tomlinson Zisko Morosoli & Maser represented AccSys. Partner Cynthia Loe led the deal team, comprising partners William Zisko, James Janz, Richard Judkins and associate Alisha Hiner.
