Gray Cary: Financing Round Infuses $26 Million Into MaXXan

MaXXan Systems Inc. has received $26 million in first-round, venture financing. Venrock Associates and U.S. Venture Partners were the lead investors.

        MaXXan Systems Inc. has received $26 million in first-round, venture financing. Venrock Associates and U.S. Venture Partners were the lead investors.
        San Jose's MaXXan develops networking infrastructure technologies for large-scale storage networks.
        Venrock Associates, based in New York, is the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller family. It has focused on companies in information technology and health care such as Intel Corp., Apple Computer Inc. and Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc.
        Menlo Park's US Venture Partners, founded in 1981, has raised more than $2.5 billion in eight funds. Its investments include companies such as Sun Microsystems Inc. and Applied Micro Circuits Corp.
        Palo Alto's
Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich represented MaXXan. At headquarters, partner Andrew Zeif worked with associates Steve Carlson and Saria Tseng.
        New York's
Dewey Ballantine represented Venrock Associates. Partner Bernard Kury guided associate Jennifer Ferrero on the details.

Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian represented US Venture Partners. Partner Robert Specker and associate Michael Partridge worked on the deal.
