Manatt Phelps: Health-Law Practitioner Leaves Medical Company

Medical-business lawyer Frank LaPallo rejoined the Los Angeles-based Manatt Phelps & Phillips May 14 after a five-year respite from law-firm life.

Medical-business lawyer Frank LaPallo rejoined the Los Angeles-based Manatt Phelps & Phillips May 14 after a five-year respite from law-firm life.
LaPallo, a partner in the Palo Alto office
Manatt Phelps & Philips, was most recently general counsel and vice president at ADAC Laboratories, a Milpitas-based nuclear medicine equipment company. The Amsterdam-based global gizmo-maker Philips Electronics bought ADAC in December and is retooling it as a private subsidiary of its medical electronics division.
So far, ADAC hasn't announced who will succeed LaPallo, and a legal department representative says she expects the company to reveal who has taken the post sometime this summer.
LaPallo originally left Manatt Phelps to become executive vice president and director of the Phoenix-based claims-adjusting company Frontier Adjusters of America Inc. back in 1996.
"We couldn't be more pleased that he's decided to return to the firm," Manatt Phelps managing partner
Paul Irving says. "He is an exceptionally skilled and sophisticated lawyer with a comprehensive background that will add even more value to the services we offer our health care industry clients."
LaPallo handles a range of corporate law areas, including public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and financing. He also does technology, regulatory and dispute resolution work.
"My corporate experience enhanced my understanding of client expectations. ... I'm confident that will make me a more vigorous and effective advocate for the needs of Manatt's clients," LaPallo says.
