Preston Gates Patent Litigators Get Dismissal in WebGain Case
A team of patent litigators at San Francisco's Preston Gates & Ellis wrangled a dismissal on behalf of WebGain Inc. in a patent infringement suit filed against the company last year. The suit, filed by Borland Software Co. in July 2001, accused WebGain's VisualCafe software program of infringing on seven patents.
Preston Gates' team, led by San Francisco attorney Michael Bettinger, proved that no patents were infringed, and the case was dismissed in July 2002. Lawyers from the New York office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and the Los Angeles office of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges represented Borland.
