Anderson, McPharlin & Conners, an insurance defense firm with offices in Los Angeles and Riverside, has lost one of its three founders, Eldon V. McPharlin, to Parkinson's disease.
McPharlin died last month at Rancho Mirage Health Center in Rancho Mirage, where he had lived for the past 23 years. He was 82.
"He was a nationally known specialist in surety and construction law," David DiBiase, managing partner of the firm, says.
In 1947, McPharlin, a surety and construction law attorney, founded the firm in Los Angeles with colleagues Newton E. Anderson and William J. Conners.
McPharlin retired from the firm in 1979 to enjoy golfing and traveling with his wife of 60 years, Margaret.
With 25 attorneys, the firm has since expanded its practice beyond surety and construction law to include fidelity, insurance coverage, real estate and title claims.
