Minda Schecter has joined the Los Angeles office of Washington, D.C.'s Hogan & Hartson as counsel to the antitrust, competition and consumer protection and intellectual property groups.
"We're very pleased that Minda has joined the firm," chairman Warren Gorrell says. "Her unique experience practicing at the interface of intellectual property and antitrust law will be of tremendous value to our clients engaged in licensing and distribution matters."
Schecter handles both antitrust and patent law matters.
"I saw the potential to grow my practice here at Hogan & Hartson," Schecter says. "They are, in my opinion, the premier antitrust group in the country, and they have an extremely strong IP group in Los Angeles."
Schecter joins the firm from the Los Angeles office of San Francisco's McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enerson, now Bingham McCutchen.
Schecter, who was with McCutchen Doyle for only 11/2 years, spent the bulk of her career with Seattle-based Graham & James. She was with that firm's Los Angeles office for 13 years.
Schecter was an instructor and fellow in law and economics at Columbia University School of Law in the late 1970s and an associate professor of law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles up until 1983. She continues to teach part time at Loyola.
Hogan & Hartson has 45 attorneys in Los Angeles.

For the Record A story published on August 5, 2002 in Daily Journal EXTRA about Hogan & Hartson attorney Minda Schechter incorrectly spelled her name. The article also incorrectly identified the headquarters of Graham & James, a defunct San Francisco firm. The Daily Journal EXTRA regrets the errors.
