Coastal Clients Move Attorney
Project development and finance lawyer Charles E. Schwenck has plugged into Kaye Scholer's Los Angeles office, where he represents clients in power plant, high-speed rail and refinery industries.
Schwenck, who joined the office in July, is a former partner with the Los Angeles office of Kelley Drye & Warren. He was with the New York-based firm for more than two years.
Schwenck, 57, says Kaye Scholer's Los Angeles post is a perfect fit for his geographically diverse client base. He says his clients are located on both U.S. coasts.
"I need a firm that has a major New York office, and it's hard to find one that has a really good West Coast office," Schwenck says. "Of all the New York firms, Kaye Scholer probably has the strongest West Coast office."
Before joining Kelley Drye, he was with the Costa Mesa office of San Francisco's Morrison & Foerster for five years. Schwenck, however, spent the bulk of his career in-house. From 1977 to 1985, he was general counsel of Flour Daniel Inc., based in Sugar Land, Texas. And, from 1973 to 1977, Schwenck served as division counsel for San Francisco's Bechtel Group Inc.
Kaye Scholer has 412 attorneys in nine offices worldwide. The firm employs 62 attorneys in Los Angeles.
