One of District of Idaho Bankruptcy Judge Jim D. Pappas’ most well-known decisions is a 2013 concurrence he wrote while serving as chief judge of the 9th Circuit’s Bankruptcy Appellate Panel in which he advocated for a more lenient standard in discharging student loan debt, calling the “undue hardship” test a “relic of times long gone.”
