SALINAS -- Of his recent transition from public defender to the Monterey County bench, Judge Jared A. Jefferson notes, "I was a zealous advocate back then but the way I carried myself was being respectful to everybody, and I tried not to make things personal."
He noted, "That doesn't mean that I wouldn't make my point very strongly in court." And he promotes that same attitude to younger attorneys in his courtroom.
