OAKLAND - Just after being sworn in as a judge in October 2007, Carrie McIntyre Panetta temporarily became a single mom to two daughters under the age of 2.
Her husband, Jim Panetta, was sent to Afghanistan with the U.S. Navy Reserves, acting as an intelligence liaison between the U.S. Army Special Forces and the CIA in the terrorist-laden border region with Pakistan.
