LANCASTER - Marilyn Mordetzky grew up on a horse. For fun, she took her young Morgan on 100-mile rides from her home in Auburn to Lake Tahoe.

"I lived very close to the Tevis Cup Trail," she said of the famed route that attracts numerous equine competitors to California's historic gold country. "That's how I learned the love for endurance riding."
