SAN DIEGO - The first thing you might notice upon entering Superior Court Judge Melinda J. Lasater's chambers is a leg dangling from her ceiling.
It harkens back to the time when she was assigned to the juvenile department. A few weeks earlier, an adult miscreant had slipped out of an interview room and in the process of trying to escape had managed to crash through a ceiling in the courthouse.
