SAN BERNARDINO - They were high school sweethearts at Valencia High School in Orange County. She asked him out, and he was smitten.
For 38 years, Judge Kenneth R. Barr was married to Suzanne. They planned to retire together, to travel the world.
Then the breast cancer came. Doctors caught it early and hoped they had gotten it all. But they did not. Suzanne died in 2009 after an eight-year battle.
