JOSHUA TREE - The tiny blue-collar town of Joshua Tree in the sprawling Mojave Desert, known for the stark beauty of its national park and for its New Age retreats, doesn't lack for bizarre criminal cases.
But when former county prosecutor Dan Detienne took the bench in the four-judge courthouse a year and a half ago, the first case he drew was a doozy - even by local standards.
