Judge James P. Marion has gone from jury trials to dependency court and back to felony cases, which he says he prefers for the transparency.

SANTA ANA - James P. Marion spent 18 years as a prosecutor putting on jury trials, and he's spent a decade as an Orange County Superior Court judge primarily hearing jury trials.

He also put in a couple of years recently hearing juvenile dependency matters, where there are no jury trials. That made the cases more difficult, he said.
