COMPTON - Luis F. "Frank" Soliz's father was 45 when he suffered a heart attack. By the next year, he was dead.

Heart disease claimed the lives of so many male members of Soliz's family that when his work as a sole practitioner left him little time with his young son, he decided to close his practice and go to work for Los Angeles County Superior Court.
