Change of Scene

Judge John S. Fisher had mixed feelings about switching to downtown Los Angeles, after 17 years in his hometown court in Van Nuys, but it proved a pleasant surprise, reuniting him with longtime former colleagues from his days there as a prosecutor.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge John S. Fisher was raised in Van Nuys. He spent most of his prosecutorial career in Van Nuys. And for 17 years, he sat on the bench as a criminal judge in Van Nuys.

So when Fisher, 59, got the call to move to the downtown Criminal Justice Center a year ago, his feelings were understandably mixed.
