BAKERSFIELD - Trial attorney Philip Ganong was hopping mad at the small, pleasant-looking man sitting on the bench, Superior Court Judge William Palmer.
After a witness for the other side had failed to appear, Ganong resorted to reading parts of a deposition aloud instead. When it was the defense's turn, however, the witness made it to court and took the stand. Palmer decided to move on.
