SAN FRANCISCO - Senior U.S. District Judge Samuel P. King of Hawaii was sitting by assignment last month on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals - again.

At age 93 he's had decades of experience in assuming a federal appellate role far from Honolulu in 9th Circuit courthouses up and down the West Coast, from Seattle to San Diego.
