CHULA VISTA - William C. Gentry Jr. stood in a parking lot late one night in Baghdad, chatting with his wife on his cell phone, when he heard a swishing sound overhead.
"Something exploded," Gentry recalled. "I needed to find a place to take cover, so I dove into a ditch. I told my wife, 'I'll have to call you back.' It was the most helpless feeling. You have no control."
