LOS ANGELES - If Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ellen C. DeShazer's life were a novel, the breaks between chapters would be dramatic and distinct.
After 15 years on the bench, DeShazer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She underwent chemotherapy and had surgery in January 2012.
