NEWPORT BEACH - Andre Manssourian remembers his first run for office. He posted fliers, gave campaign speeches and made the rounds of every fraternity, sorority and club on the UC Santa Barbara campus.

His hard work paid off. The student body elected him a representative of the UCSB legislative council. He was 19.

Running for judge last year was much harder.
