SAN JOSE - As a child growing up in the country's farmlands, Jesus Valencia Jr. enjoyed reading about history and in particular about U.S. presidents. He was drawn to one president, Abraham Lincoln, and his legendary rise from modest means to become a celebrated lawyer.
