EL CENTRO - The defendant was a hard-working gardener, a family man struggling to make ends meet who succumbed to the temptation of some extra cash. He agreed to sell cocaine for an acquaintance.

The next thing the gardener knew, he was under arrest. The acquaintance was a police informant.

Poli Flores Jr., now an Imperial County Superior Court commissioner, represented him.
