LOS ANGELES -- As a child, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Julia Brand and her three sisters moved from state to state as their father found new advertising jobs throughout the country.

She was born in Seattle, and after six moves, the family settled in Los Angeles when she was in the ninth grade. "As a little kid, it doesn't really affect you. You move to a new neighborhood, make new friends; it's all good," she continued.
